(07.2016 – Valea Rea)

It seems that this year we’re focusing more on climbing trips, but I surely miss the mountains. So I dug deep down in my pic archive and found these pictures. They are from last year, when we went trekking on Juju’s birthday.

Juju knows our mountains better than we, Romanians, do, so he chose a perfect place to spend our weekend. On the first day we reached Moldoveanu Peak (again) going up through Valea Rea. I know I’m always amazed by how quiet and calm everything is in the mountains, but that time we were the only people to go up that route. And it was amazing! For a couple of hours it felt like we were actually the only people on earth!

Going up is always easy – you’re rested, everything is nice, you take as many breaks as you wish, yeah, it’s definitely doable.

Going down is the difficult part. I’ve noticed that I’m not as patient anymore, that once I’m up, that’s it for me. I don’t even want to hear about the descend. So, yeah, I cried a bit, I cursed a lot, I huffed and I puffed, and in the end I made it down.

Now I’m tempted to ask Adi to go trekking again but I know for sure that I’m not fit anymore for such a long journey. Maybe something shorter, easier. But why rush? The summer has just arrived. We have all the time in the world.
