While we were in Lisbon we decided to take a day trip to Sintra, an amazing city very close to Lisbon. We took the train for about 40 minutes (and I remember that we paid around 6 euro for a round trip) and then we walked to the centre. What can I say, Sintra is a breathtaking place! Wherever you look you see adorable old houses, magnificent castle towers and, of course, tourists.
Since we actually wanted to visit the Pena Palace, we took some buggies to the entrance (the queues for the buses were never-ending!) and we had to wait at yet another humongous queue at the gate of the palace, but in the end it was worth it!
Pena Palace is this crazy gingerbread house-like structure, painted in bright colours, with the obligatory azulejos, very well preserved and very cool to visit.
Needless to say, I was in heaven :)
PS. A very special thanks goes to mum and the three amazing girls from Canada who let us tag along on their holiday :) Can hardly wait to do it again!
