Last year we decided not to spend New Year’s Eve in Baia Mare, but to go somewhere with our friends. Claudia’s parents were extremely nice and let us have their lovely house near Sibiu. So we went there and we had an excellent time.
And while we were there, we decided to test our crampons and do a little winter trek.
For Adi and I it was the first time we put on crampons. We had bought them a couple of months earlier and I was a bit afraid of what it meant to actually use them. Actually, I’m always a bit afraid of new things. But it was fine.
I’m joking. It wasn’t fine – it was amazing! Snow can be really tricky, especially when it has hardened and you have to walk up a slope. But once you put your crampons on, it’s a piece of cake! There’s a funny feeling in the beginning, the first steps are wobbly, but once you get the hang of it, you don’t want to take them off!
What we did that day wasn’t difficult – we just went up a slope and climbed down, a mere 3 hours. Since then we haven’t been anywhere this winter (mainly because we were too lazy), but looking back it was such a great experience! Now that I have adequate gloves (thanks to my friends, who pitched in and bought me a pair for my birthday! <3), I can hardly wait to do it again next winter. Maybe even go for longer treks, maybe ice climb more – anything and anywhere I can use my crampons :)
Cat de tari sunt pozele. Pare sa fi fost o vacanta de exceptie, un final de an foarte activ. Ador privelistea!
