(08.08.2015 – Refugiul Bătrâna)
Last June we went on the same trail and we couldn’t see anything because of the miserable weather. This year we took my beloved Andreea and DragoÈ™ out for an easy trek and we still couldn’t see anything because of the miserable weather (OK, OK, slightly less miserable than the year before, nonetheless…).
They hadn’t been trekking for over a year cause of that adorable bundle of joy, cuteness and all things nice (aka RareÈ™, aka my godson), so we picked a route we like very much and which wasn’t that difficult. I think for them, especially for Andreea, the hardest part was being away from RareÈ™ (if you knew him, you’d understand why).
Fog is such an annoying thing. Almost all my trips to the Bucegi Mountains have been cursed with fog. Maybe it’s me, not them. We’ll find out this winter.
Yes, I know, I’m always dressed with the same trekking pants. I’m sick of them too (want something more colourful), but this year we went trekking just a couple of times and I didn’t feel like spending money on such a whim. But come spring…
Looking back at these pictures and remembering that lovely day spent with friends, the fresh air, the scenery (well…), it makes me ache to put on my boots and just walk in the mountains again. But here I am, glued to my chair trying to finish the latest translation I’m working on.
The way down was so looong and we were all so exhausted, but we kept going, putting one foot in front of another, and in the end we made it, we were back where we started.
Since Andreea and DragoÈ™ live in Germany now, I was so happy that we spent a whole day together! We talked about everything and yet there were still so many things we didn’t get a change to mention. Distance and time – our own personal enemies.
Next summer we’re bringing RareÈ™ with us. I won’t take no for an answer :)
1. Fără maimuțoi eu nu mai plec, am zis.
