Braşov – part 2

3 May

After having walked around the city centre for long enough we decided to have a look at Braşov from above. Well, we weren’t ‘prepared’ to walk all the way up that huge hill, so we took the cable car. I know, I know, we’re so lazy :D I always get claustrophobic and panicky when it comes to going upwards in any kind of machinery, so I did a bit of hyperventilating. But the ride up was worth it. We got a very nice view of the city, too bad we were really hungry by the time we got there so all we wanted was to go down asap and eat something.

Once back in the city we looked for a place to have a snack. All the places on the main touristic streets were almost full and we didn’t want to squeeze in with all the tourists :P so we ended up having a great lunch in a nice pub. It’s calledGott and I strongly recommend it :) I’ve the best pasta ever there! And they had a very tasty wheat beer. We didn’t get drunk on the beach this 1st of May, but I surely got tipsy in Braşov :)) )) I couldn’t stop drinking that beer, it was that awesome!

After our yummy lunch and great beer(s), we went to try their cakes. We saw a very nice confectionery and decided we must eat there. So on our way to the train station we made a quick and delicious!!! stop at that place. Boy, 3 cakes we’re enough for us, but we were running out of time so we had to stop. Next time we’re there we’re trying everything they have! :)

All in all, it was a GREAT trip. Braşov is a city we’ve fallen in love with and we’ll go there again, that’s for sure!

Plenty of other good places to eat in Braşov.

Note however that NOBODY in this fucking city knows what BOILED papanasi are, they only know of FRIED papanasi!

Also, although I know you don’t care about meat, NOBODY can make a *good* ostropel here in Braşov.

OTOH, while we’re at cakes, I have to say that Vatra Ardealului makes them rather heavy, so for the next time I’d recommend you the new Krauss confectionery that’s now at Dean’s Pub, on Republicii St. (a much smaller Krauss is on Lunga St.).
