Word of the day

27 May

Today I’m obsessed by the word baby. Everything’s “yeah, baby”, “go, baby”, “sure, baby”, “alright, baby”. I think I’ll go and wash my mouth with soap.

Beer talk

26 May

We wait by the bar to be served. “Two Carlsberg, please.” We then take the beer and find a free table. Finally, we find a secluded table and we sit down, beers in front of us. It’s a bit chilly, so I put my cardigan on.

“So… how’s it going?” The first minutes are awkward: it’s always small talk about work, school, the weather, common friends, family etc. In between questions and answers we sip beer and don’t make eye contact. We are, after all, strangers to one another.

“Don’t you feel lonely?”
“Yeah, but I got used to it.”
“I could never get used to that.”

Then I feel like confessing, telling him who I really am, make him see the real me.
“You know, I’m very childish.”
“Yes, I’m aware of that.”
“And I’m spoiled and mean.”
“A real kid.”
“Yeah! And I get upset so, so easily!”
“Tell me about it! Though, I don’t know why you’re acting like that. I remember very well that tantrum you threw last year. I don’t know what got into you!”
” …But I’m not always like that. You can’t generalize.”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t know how people can stand me.”
“…” He looks at me: “But aren’t you going to do something about that?”
I shrug. “Should I?”
“Well…”
I don’t let him finish. “No, I’m not going to do a thing about that.”
“…”

“Want another beer?”
“No, let’s go somewhere else.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah.”

It’s not funny at all to have a taste of your own medicine.

Night walk

24 May

Dragos took me out for a beer. I wanted to go to Motoare and so we did, despite the fact that it had rained and the tables were all wet. We put some magazines on the benches and after that it was OK :) The beer’s a bit expensive, but otherwise the place rocks. Oh, and on the way there I saw a rainbow. It made my heart melt! :X

Anyways, after a while it got really chilly and we decided to go to a proper pub, but on our way there we started talking about old streets in Bucharest and we turned around and went exploring :) We walked around the center of the city for about 2 hours and we didn’t care where we were. We went from street to street admiring the old buildings and I was daydreaming that one day a miracle would happen and I’d live in a building like those; I made up stories in my mind about the people living there; I wanted to walk till the morning came.

I love getting lost in the city; it’s always an adventure and I get to see places I probably wouldn’t see otherwise. And it’s like the people are different depending on what part of the city you are – in fact, everything’s different and new. Bucharest is beautiful at night. I fell in love with it again this night.

And then we reached Calea Calarasi and we entered a kind of take-away restaurant. We wanted to grab something to eat, but they were about to close. We talked to the girl at the counter and then a nice woman said that she wanted to gives us something to eat and she came back with a casserole of mushrooms with garlic sauce. I think that was incredibly nice of her! I don’t know if she was the owner of the restaurant or not, but I felt like a kid who got free candy. [For the ones who are interested in checking the place out, it's called Casserole and it's on Calea Calarasi nr 34; can't miss it :) ].

On our way back to Unirea, we bought ice cream and Coke and we promised we were going to do this again. I can hardly wait!

This song made my day! A new obsession, I think. Yep, it’s absolutely lovely and rainbowish and I love it, love it, love it!

I like I like when we whisper soft to each other
I like I like when we’re quiet with one another
I like I like when we’re n-nice nice to each other
I like I like when we surely like one another
